Introduction
- Since there is no secondary copper loss (rotor copper loss), higher efficiency, smaller size and lighter weight can be obtained compared with induction motor and electromagnetic synchronous motor.
- No commutator, brush, excitation circuit and slip ring, simple maintenance.
- Since there is no temperature rise caused by field loss, protective measures against field temperature rise are not required. However, when the permanent magnet used in this field approaches the Curie temperature, the coercivity decreases.
- Since the rotation speed is determined by the power frequency and does not change according to the load, the speed control accuracy is excellent.
- Compared with induction motor and electromagnetic synchronous motor, it is advantageous for battery train and narrow gauge railway.
